Happy New Year to all! Last night was a hundred times better than any NYE I’ve ever had. That’s a good sign for XX/XX/11. We headed over to Blair and friends house for an appetizer style dinner, including a smoked turkey, brie and French rounds (Harris Teeter disappointed me in these, not very crunchy), sausage balls, spanakopita, etc.
Around 8:30 the cabs showed up to take us to the New Years Eve party at Capitol City Brewing Company located in Union Station.

It was the perfect sized venue and just the right amount of people (though it definitely got packed around midnight). The R&B/Rap band, Culture Sol, was great and they never ran out of alcohol, including a champagne toast for everyone at 12….unlike last year’s event that ran out of everything at 10 pm.
It was a slow morning but when I did get up I thought it important to start the new year with a Rock Star breakfast. Smoked salmon, cream cheese and red onion omelet with black truffle salt.
It’s not exactly black eyed peas and collards, but what else screams success like black truffles?
AND my beloved new Kitchen Aid mixer arrived!!! Wooo! What to make first??
New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Do yoga at least 3 times a week
2. Make Chinas Plate better and better
3. Attempt croissants recipe in Tartine cookbook
4. Be more patient.
In that order, obviously.
